Vintage and antique Taxco silverware and metalware
Taxco was the center of Mexico’s silver revival in the 1930s. The designers and artisans in Taxco created designs that mixed the traditional with the new ideas of 20th century modernism. They created holloware, flatware, bowls, cups, serving sets, spoons, forks, napkin rings, coffee and tea services, candlesticks, glasses, trays, platters, ashtrays, and other objects of interest. In addition to using silver, a number of these designers used other metals such as copper or brass, sometimes combining them in stunning metales casados (mixed metals) creations.
William Spratling, Los Castillo, Hector Aguilar, Margot de Taxco, Antonio Pineda, Sigi Pineda, Bernice Goodspeed, and J. Luis Reyes, are a few of the well-known creators.
